The Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) is one of the world's largest and busiest telehealth networks in the world. As telehealth began to grow, OTN sought a means to provide just-in-time video capacity, while focusing its teams on providing value to the Province of Ontario, instead of chasing infrastructure problems. This quest invariable led OTN on its journey to the cloud. In this presentation, we will discuss how OTN architected its video network to leverage the elasticity, high availability, and extreme flexibility of AWS to implement a self-healing video network. This video network successfully scaled on-demand even to the extreme when faced with a sudden deluge of demand for telehealth as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
