Cerner - Enabling a real-time health system with ML and AI

July 16, 2020

The need for health systems to have situational awareness and predictable insights into their clinical operations is intensified in the context of a global pandemic.  The complexity of answering the demand for healthcare resources with an adequate supply is challenging.  A real-time health system can be described as a next-generation health organization that acts on real-time information to achieve predictable excellence in clinical, operational, and financial outcomes  In the new normal, health systems will carefully balance their capacity and resource utilization, maintaining their ability to quickly respond to any resurgence of disease activity.  This balance allows health systems to continue to fulfill their mission to preserve and increase the health of their communities, physicians, clinicians, and staff. Machine learning at scale, used in real-time for operational decision-making, can support health systems to be agile, responsive, and careful stewards of healthcare resources.
